SURVISION wins with its partner TEIN TELECOM Belgium's largest ever contract for a number plate recognition application

SURVISION would like to announce its selection by TEIN TELECOM, architect and known provider of integrated and innovative vocal, data and video solutions for the equipping of tunnels in the Brussels-Capital Region with a system of number plate recognition. This contract involves the installation of 172 cameras in the 24 tunnels of the Brussels inner ring road. The aim is to increase safety, to provide drivers with real-time traffic information using dynamic display signs, and to obtain statistics on traffic density in order to optimise equipment management and pollution reduction.

This highly innovative implementation application will make Brussels a leading city in the field of high technology applied to road traffic, and will make Tein Telecom a reference figure in complex urban video in the Benelux region. The cameras to be installed will be the SURVISION Visipak cameras which embed in a very compact space, the entire device for number plates extraction. These cameras were specially designed for tunnels, respecting in particular the very specific restrictions for this type of environment. With this contract, SURVISION can confirm its position as a leader in image-processing applied to vehicle detection and tracking. It is the capacity of SURVISION to deploy its algorithms on increasingly compact platforms, and to provide completely integrated cameras which make its solutions ideal for difficult environments (tunnels, motorways, urban areas…). Installation, adjustment and maintenance are simplified to a maximum in order to reduce the frequency and length of interventions which are extremely expensive in this type of environment.
