APNR Speed camer technology is our business!
Traditional spot speed ANPR camera units have been sited, in the main, at or near collision hotspots in an effort to reduce casualties. According to the statistical information available, they are considered to have been a success. By their very nature the spot ANPR Speed Camera has a limited area of influence and we have all experienced the effects of the harsh braking before and rapid acceleration after these camera sites.
Since April 2008, the cost recovery schemes have ended and the authorities are now looking at alternative technologies to address the speed issues that continue to contribute to the casualty statistics that blight our roads. Increasingly, they are looking to average speed detection devices that monitor and control speed over a stretch of road. We have seen early versions of this technology within road-works, to protect both the workforce and the road user.
The new ANPR technology, Autofocus, has allowed a system to be designed offering the highest known accuracy due to several unique technologies and specific algorithms. This has allowed the plate to be identified in, infrared, B&W or white light conditions. All EU plates including non-reflective and red characters and numbers ensuring enforcement is carried out in an unbiased manner.
By using this latest system we are able to offer highway authorities a professional, efficient and cost effective ANPR system. This new system is subject to rigorous UK Home Office Type Approval tests and the toughest European standard approvals. These will be available for deployment in the very near future.
